Impressions of Ottoman Culture in Europe: 1453-1699 – Nurhan Atasoy at Yunus Emre

An event in Cambridge next week involving our own Islamic Art historian, Dr Deniz Turker;

In this talk Prof. Nurhan Atasoy will explore the rich cross-cultural exchange between the Ottomans and their European neighbours on the 25th of March at The Old Library, Pembroke College, University of Cambridge. The talk will focus the multi-faceted cultural influences of the Ottomans on Europe and the book ‘Impressions of Ottoman Culture in Europe: 1453-1699’ authored by Atasoy and Dr. Lâle Uluç.

The book is the culmination of a six-year research project conducted in 14 countries under the sponsorship of the Turkish Cultural Foundation and has been published in February 2012 by ARMAGGAN Publications.

The talk will be moderated by art historian Dr Deniz Türker from the Department of History of Art , Pembroke College, University of Cambridge.
