Dear colleagues,

IT Services and its network partners need to install an important update to network equipment in some University buildings between 9am and 6pm on Monday 1 August, and this will affect Wi-Fi and wired network connectivity in the buildings below:

  • AV Hill
  • Alan Gilbert Learning Commons
  • Alan Turing Building
  • AMBS Executive Education Centre
  • Armitage Centre
  • Arthur Lewis Building
  • Beyer Building
  • Booth St Car Park
  • Bright Building
  • Carys Bannister Building
  • Christie Building
  • Contact Theatre
  • Coupland 1 Building
  • Crawford House
  • Dental School
  • Dover Street Building
  • Ellen Wilkinson Building
  • Exchange Quay
  • Ferranti Building
  • Firs Villa
  • George Begg Building

This is separate from other network modernisation project work which may be going on in some of the above buildings.

Wi-Fi and wired network connectivity will be interrupted for approximately 5-10 minutes. During this time, anyone in the buildings above (or remotely connecting to a computer in the area) will be temporarily disconnected from the network.

Due to the nature of the work, it’s not possible to state at which time during the above period the connectivity interruption will happen.

Once the work has been completed, services should automatically reconnect. Anyone experiencing any issues after the work has been completed should telephone the IT Support Centre on 0161 306 5544 (24 hours a day, 7 days a week).

There is a separate piece of work planned soon which will also affect network access across campus. Please keep an eye on StaffNet for an announcement.
