Yet we know from recent feedback that many eligible patients are\u00a0<\/span>not yet being approached or recruited\u00a0to the national UK JIA Biologics Register \u2013 the BCRD Study<\/span><\/b>. We want to change that\u00a0–\u00a0and we need your help.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Tofacitinib\u00a0remains\u00a0a relatively uncommon\u00a0treatment choice in JIA, making every eligible patient especially valuable for understanding outcomes, safety, and treatment pathways. The BCRD team has already seen registrations\u00a0in this cohort,\u00a0but we have\u00a0indications that\u00a0<\/span>many more children could be included<\/span><\/b>\u00a0if sites are aware of how flexible and supportive the process can be.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Because numbers are small, even a handful of\u00a0additional\u00a0recruits can significantly enhance the power of national data and strengthen guidance for clinicians and\u00a0families.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Participants can be approached for recruitment any time after they have started treatment with tofacitinib\u00a0as long as\u00a0the required follow-up data can be provided.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n This applies to:<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n We\u00a0know that\u00a0real world\u00a0clinic pressures, staffing challenges, or difficulty contacting families can make\u00a0timely\u00a0recruitment difficult\u00a0so please do contact us to discuss any potential participants who may\u00a0have slipped through\u00a0being approached for recruitment.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Don\u2019t\u00a0forget:<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Up to \u00a3350 is available per tofacitinib participant recruited.<\/span><\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n This includes \u00a350 per baseline and\u00a0followup\u00a0form\u00a0submitted, helping to support research teams and offset capacity pressures.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Multiple centres told us that research staffing shortages were a barrier to recruitment, so we hope this funding helps make the process more achievable locally.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Based on your feedback, the BCRD team has implemented several improvements to make it easier to\u00a0identify\u00a0eligible patients:<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n To support this important national effort, we ask that your team:<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Children starting tofacitinib are rare – and because they are rare,\u00a0<\/span>every single recruit matters<\/span><\/b>.
