The BILAG Biologics Register (BILAG BR) is a study underway at hospitals throughout the UK.<\/p>\n

It is looking at the safety and effectiveness of biologic and biosimilar treatment for systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE).<\/p>\n

Long term follow-up information regarding changes to the disease and any new illnesses is collected to determine the safety and effectiveness of these types of treatments.<\/p>\n

Biologic therapy is a special kind of treatment, defined because of the way it is made.<\/p>\n

Biologic drugs use substances that are made from living organisms, and use the body\u2019s natural immune system to treat a disease.<\/p>\n

This can be done by stimulating or suppressing part of the immune system to help the body fight the disease.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
