Transmission and control of SARS-CoV-2 on ground public transport: a rapid review of the literature to date

by | Mar 15, 2022 | Journal papers, Theme 3: Sector-specific studies | 0 comments

This paper, published in the Journal of Transport and Health and produced by researchers from Theme 3 of the PROTECT study, reviews research to date on transmission of the COVID-19 virus on public transport, and the effectiveness of control measures implemented by operators.

The research found evidence for transmission on public transport in some cases, as well as the reduction of risk by the implementation of control measures including face coverings, ventilation and social distancing. The paper identifies evidence gaps for further investigation, which ongoing PROTECT research will contribute to filling.
