The article “What drives data-driven campaigning (DDC)? A comparative analysis of the institutional and organisational factors shaping the adoption of DDC in the French and German party systems” is now out in the Swiss Political Science Review (SPSR).<\/a><\/p>\n

In this article, team members Esmeralda Bon, Rachel Gibson, Philipp Darius, Fabienne Greffet and Andrea R\u00f6mmele comparatively assess data-driven political campaigning in France and Germany. They find that digital culture and expertise matters, not the size or budget of parties. Most notably, contrary to normalisation theory, they find that minor parties with a \u2018netroots\u2019 base and newcomers who are digital \u2018natives\u2019 engage more in DDC than the \u2018legacy\u2019 major parties.
