Contributions to publications & research
Supporting high-quality academic outputs with clear, accurate documentation of digital research methods.
Digital components increasingly play a central role in health research, yet they are often difficult for teams to describe rigorously in academic publications. We help bridge that gap by contributing clear, precise, and methodologically grounded writing for journal articles, conference papers, and other research outputs.
Our team works collaboratively with researchers to ensure that digital methods — from co-design processes to software development decisions — are documented accurately and in a way that aligns with academic standards and peer-review expectations.
What we do
- We contribute written content to journal papers and conference outputs, explaining digital methods such as app development, co-design, prototyping, and usability testing.
- We translate technical and design concepts into clear, academically appropriate language to support accurate reporting.
- We create publication-ready diagrams and visual summaries that illustrate processes, workflows, or technical architecture.
- We document user-centred design and co-design activities in a structured way, ensuring transparency and reproducibility.
- We help analyse and interpret findings from user research sessions and integrate these insights into manuscripts.
- We advise research teams on where digital design and development activities should sit within publication structures and contribute to writing plans where needed
Our role in the publication development process
Outcomes
- High-quality publications with accurately described digital methodologies.
- Increased clarity for reviewers and readers around design decisions, technical implementation, and user research.
- Stronger methodological rigour in reporting software-based interventions or digital tools.
- Publications that reflect best practice in usability, accessibility, and co-design.
- Improved reproducibility and transparency across digital health research outputs.
In action
The VoiceIn project illustrates how our team contributes to academic publications by documenting digital design and development processes in a clear, methodologically robust way. Our contribution included writing the sections on co-design, accessibility testing, prototype iteration, and the technical features of both the mobile app and the researcher portal.
Working closely with the study team, we helped ensure the publication accurately reflected the complexity of the digital components and the user-centred methods that underpinned them.
