Alex and Uma attended the Development Studies Association (DSA) annual conference<\/a> in Manchester in June 2018.<\/p>\n They convened a session entitled, \u2018Everyday practices of inequality<\/a>\u2019. Four papers were presented as part of the session, all of which explored how inequalities are generated, maintained and potentially mitigated on an everyday, routinised basis. Some of the themes explored in the papers included everyday realities of exclusion amongst migrant workers in Seoul, South Korea, time inequalities and waiting for basic services in New Delhi, India, and the inequalities present in work mobilities in Santiago, Chile.<\/p>\n There was a lively\u00a0discussion following\u00a0the presentations that raised\u00a0some important issues including how inequalities can be\u00a0challenged and addressed in\u00a0the\u00a0everyday.<\/p>\n 2018 marked the 40th anniversary of the Development Studies Association and also the 60th anniversary of Development Studies at The University of Manchester<\/a>.
