Primary Care Clinic (eye examinations and contact lenses)<\/h1>\nWhat is the purpose of this clinic?<\/h2>\n
The Primary Eye Care Clinic provides comprehensive eye care services for adults and children aged 9 years and over.<\/p>\n
The clinic offers:<\/p>\n

- Contact lens fitting and aftercare<\/li>\n
- Eye health assessments<\/li>\n
- Assessment and management of common eye conditions<\/li>\n
- Referral appointments for further investigation and monitoring<\/li>\n
- Specialist contact lens services, including:\n

- Daily and reusable contact lenses<\/li>\n
- Multifocal contact lenses<\/li>\n
- Soft and rigid contact lenses<\/li>\n
- Coloured contact lenses<\/li>\n
- Keratoconus contact lenses<\/li>\n
- Myopia management contact lenses<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
Each appointment is carried out by a student optometrist under the close supervision of a General Optical Council-registered optometrist.<\/p>\n

All eye examinations, contact lens assessments, trial lenses, check-ups and aftercare appointments are provided free of charge.<\/p>\n
There is a charge for contact lenses and spectacles if these are ordered through the clinic. Our prices are highly competitive compared with many high street providers.<\/p>\n
What happens at appointments?<\/h2>\n
The student optometrist will ask detailed questions about:<\/p>\n
- \n
- Your eyesight and eye health<\/li>\n
- Current or previous spectacles<\/li>\n
- Contact lens wear<\/li>\n
- General health and medications<\/li>\n
- Any symptoms or concerns you may have<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
Specialist equipment will be used to assess your vision, determine any spectacle prescription required and examine the health of your eyes, including digital retinal photography and OCT, where clinically appropriate.<\/p>\n
Depending on your needs, your appointment may also include:<\/p>\n

- Contact lens discussions and fittings<\/li>\n
- Additional eye health investigations<\/li>\n
- Monitoring of existing eye conditions<\/li>\n
- Advice regarding treatment options and ongoing care<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
As appointments are closely supervised by a qualified optometrist and may involve teaching activities, please allow up to two hours for your visit.<\/p>\n
What to bring<\/h2>\n
Please bring:<\/p>\n

- Any current spectacles.<\/li>\n
- Details of any contact lenses you wear.<\/li>\n
- Your most recent spectacle and\/or contact lens prescription (if available).<\/li>\n
- If you are attending for a contact lens appointment only, please bring a copy of your current spectacle prescription. Most prescriptions are valid for up to two years, although some may have a shorter expiry.<\/li>\n
- Any referral letters or correspondence relating to your current or previous eye care.<\/li>\n
- A list of any eye drops or medications you currently use.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
