#004e72\">An intercalated undergraduate degree gives medical students the opportunity to study a particular area of medicine in depth in Year 3 or 4 of their MBChB Medicine degree.<\/p>\n<p>The Intercalated Medical Sciences programme (MRes) provides medical students keen on pursuing a career in academic medicine with the opportunity to undertake intensive training in biomedical research.<\/p>\n<p>The MRes programme offers:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>formal interaction with clinical academics;<\/li>\n<li>support to students in planning their prospective clinical academic careers;<\/li>\n<li>the opportunity to be embedded in successful research groups where they undertake and develop an independent body of research;<\/li>\n<li>participation in a series of taught modules designed to develop academic skills such as critical appraisal and scientific writing.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The Faculty of Biology, Medicine and Health\u00a0offers\u00a0an excellent choice of\u00a0MRes courses, which attract both internal and external intercalating medical students, and cover the mandatory training component of the NIHR Academic Clinical Fellow (ACF)
