ID LIVER Chief Investigator<\/h3>\n

Neil was the original Chief Investigator of ID LIVER. He is now Pro-Vice-Chancellor and Head of College of Medicine and Health at the University of Birmingham and retains his contact with the ID LIVER research programme as Honorary Professor at the The University of Manchester.<\/p>\n

Karen is Professor of Molecular Medicine and Head of Division, Division of Diabetes, Endocrinology and Gastroenterology at the Faculty of Biology, Medicine and Health, The University of Manchester. Her research focuses on how scarring (or fibrosis) drives liver disease to translate basic biological understanding through to human studies.<\/p>\n

Paul is a GP at Northenden Group Practice, Medical Director at oneAdvanced, and Honorary Clinical Advisor for the GM&EC Strategic Clinical Network. He supports the establishment of Community Liver Assessment Clinics across Greater Manchester to improve the identification, assessment and management of patients at increased risk of liver disease.<\/p>\n

Christopher is a Clinical Research Fellow working on an ambitious project to detect liver cancer in earlier, treatable stages. He works with the multidisciplinary team on the design and implementation of new methodologies for hepatocellular carcinoma detection.<\/p>\n

Research Associate<\/h3>\n

Elliot is a Research Associate working in Professor Piper Hanley\u2019s lab to identify potential biomarkers for early liver disease using the lab\u2019s expertise in modelling fibrosis. He works with Stephanie and Christopher to quantify these markers in patient serum to see if they are useful indicators of liver disease risk.<\/p>\n
