Dr Reena Lasrado
Reena is a qualified social worker, with 16 years of experience in frontline practice, in both the UK and in India. She is also an academic researcher with a background in ageing, dementia, suicide and self-harm, service evaluation and the mental capacity act.
Her research also focuses on vulnerable individuals and people from diverse ethnic minority groups with varying levels of health and care needs. She shares a special interest in the area of dementia, suicide, operationalisation of the mental capacity act, Mental Health Act and Care Act from a social work perspective.
As a social worker she has primarily worked with adults with mental health needs and their
families. This has involved conducting mental capacity assessments, Best Interest
Assessments under Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards, care needs assessments and support planning under the Care Act and facilitating safeguarding investigations.
Reena is proficient in several languages including Hindi and has experience in working with interpreters to facilitate statutory assessments. With this background she was able to contribute to the development of the initial INForMHAA proposal and continues to support the project as a consultant in various ways.
