Immunologists in the Lydia Becker Institute of Immunology and Inflammation at the University of Manchester are a significant partner in the recently announced UK-Coronavirus Immune Consortium.

Professor Hussell, who is leading one of the five main themes said “The collaborative approach is most welcome and will allow us to draw together the deeply immune phenotyped cohorts of patients across the UK to interrogate susceptibility to severe disease in different patient groups. Furthermore, the funds will allow us to find out the characteristics of infected people who only experience mild disease. This is important since it may highlight the reason for severe disease, which may be preventable.”
