Professor Sheena Cruickshank provided her expertise for an\u00a0ITV 1 Tonight special <\/a>on how to boost your immune system, which aired on the 10th of February.<\/p>\n

The programme looked at the recent flu and cold epidemic in the UK – the worst in a decade – with a focus on how the immune system works and whether it can be boosted via supplements, exercise, or nutrition.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Professor Cruickshank explained:<\/p>\n

\n

A lack of sleep, lots of stress, a poor diet and a very sedentary lifestyle all make our immune system not work as well as it should. And if it’s not working as well as it should, then you are more susceptible to infections\u00a0<\/i><\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n
