Below are some example topic ideas, in the context of community medicine:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>palliative care<\/li>\n<li>cardiology<\/li>\n<li>paediatrics<\/li>\n<li>sports medicine<\/li>\n<li>law and ethics<\/li>\n<li>travel medicine<\/li>\n<li>global health<\/li>\n<li>arts and medicine.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>What the project involves<\/h2>\n<p>It is optimal for the student to do 3 days of educational activities in the practice. However, the timetable is negotiable between student and supervisor, dependent on the needs of the quality improvement project, allowing flexibility for all those involved.<\/p>\n<p>Students will produce <strong>one<\/strong> of the following assignments per QEPEP module:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>a Quality Evaluation (QE) report, for example, an audit or other piece of quality improvement work<\/li>\n<li>a lay document and associated work report e.g. a patient information leaflet<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>You will need to:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>meet your student(s) at the start of the placement<\/li>\n<li>help identify and plan a suitable project<\/li>\n<li>Timetable project activity time, project supervision (1 hour per week) and support the student in carrying out their project<\/li>\n<li>mark the completed project according to defined marketing criteria<\/li>\n<li>provide feedback on attendance and engagement<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<h4><em>\u201cI received outstanding supervision from my supervisor who was consistently generous with their time and support whenever I needed guidance. From the outset, the project goals were clearly defined, and their enthusiasm for the work was both evident and motivating. They always responded promptly to queries, reflecting their commitment and passion for the project as well.&#8221; <\/em><strong>MB ChB Year 5 Student\u00a0<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<h2>We are continuing to go green!<\/h2>\n<p>Did you know that most quality improvement projects (QIPs) you offer will align seamlessly and naturally with sustainable healthcare principles? To help clearly identify this to the students and to showcase for your future NHS appraisals, we can help! When we gather your availability via our eForm there is a drop-down menu so supervisors can select the sustainable healthcare principles that align with your project and we highlight these to our students as &#8220;Green QEPEPs&#8221; to increase their visibility and impact.<\/p>\n<p>For more background information on this, we have our own Green QEPEP &#8220;toolkit&#8221; and take a look at the website for\u00a0the Centre for Sustainable Healthcare (CSH): <a id=\"LPlnk913490\" href=\"https:\/\/sustainablehealthcare.org.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">https:\/\/sustainablehealthcare.org.uk\/<\/a><\/p>\n<p>We can provide more information on how you can decide which sustainability principles your\u00a0QEPEP\u00a0aligns with and how you can weave sustainability through the project.<\/p>\n<p>We are looking forward to going\u00a0green\u00a0and hope you join us in this endeavour towards\u00a0greener practice!<\/p>\n<h2>Support for GPs<\/h2>\n<p>New QEPEP supervisors will complete an hour-long online training module. Ongoing support is also available from the Community QEPEP team.<\/p>\n<h2>Dates for 2026-27<\/h2>\n<p>All QEPEP modules last for four weeks.\u00a0In Year 5, GP tutors will select one or both blocks from the following:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>22\/03\/2027 to 16\/04\/2027<\/li>\n<li>19\/04\/2027 to 14\/05\/2027<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Payment<\/h2>\n<p>Payment is \u00a31,600 per student. There is the opportunity to take more than one QEPEP student per placement.<\/p>\n<h2>How to sign up<\/h2>\n<p>If you are a new tutor to Manchester, please contact the Community team (details below) in the first instance to express your interest.
