The article overviews the impact of Therapeutic Communities on staff and patients with self-defeating behaviours, and the importance of relational care.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: right\"><a href=\"#top\">&lt; Back to top<\/a><\/p>\n<h3 id=\"research-reports\">Research and reports<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/journals.sagepub.com\/doi\/10.1177\/13623613241276073\">The experiences of autistic adults who were previously diagnosed with borderline or emotionally unstable personality disorder: a phenomenological study<\/a> (Autism, 2025)<br \/>This interpretive phenomenological study explores the experiences of autistic adults who had previously been diagnosed with borderline or emotionally unstable personality disorder.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/sites.manchester.ac.uk\/ncish\/reports\/safer-care-for-patients-with-personality-disorder\/\">Safer care for patients with personality disorder<\/a> (NCISH, 2018) and <a href=\"https:\/\/sites.manchester.ac.uk\/ncish\/reports\/annual-report-2023\/\">Annual report 2023: UK patient and general population data 2010-2020<\/a> (NCISH, 2023)<br \/>These NCISH reports examine the key characteristics of patients who received a diagnosis of personality disorder prior to suicide and\/or homicide.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cambridge.org\/core\/journals\/bjpsych-open\/article\/clinical-characteristics-and-care-pathways-of-patients-with-personality-disorder-who-died-by-suicide\/CE5049A6F00CB726B706E2BA96C4FC23\">Clinical characteristics and care pathways of patients with personality disorder who died by suicide<\/a> (BJPsych Open, 2020)<br \/>This paper describes the characteristics of patients diagnosed with personality disorder who died by suicide, examines clinical care pathways and explores whether the care adhered to National Institute for Health and Care Excellence guidance.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/onlinelibrary.wiley.com\/doi\/10.1002\/pmh.1444\">The personality disorder patient pathway: Service user and clinical perspective<\/a> (Personality and Mental Health, 2019)<br \/>This qualitative study examines the experiences of clinicians with experience of working with people who have received a diagnosis of personality disorder and of mental health service users who have received a diagnosis of personality disorder. Care pathways for individuals diagnosed with personality disorder were unclear to both clinicians and service users.
