During Welcome Week 2019 you will be expected to participate in the Sustainability Challenge. It is important that before partaking, you understand what the Sustainability Challenge is and what you will get out of it. Find out more from our Student Intern, Francesca Berry:<\/p>\n

\"\"\u00a0“Under the guidance of a university member of staff you will be split into interdisciplinary groups, where you will have the opportunity to network with students enrolled on different courses from your own. Following this, every group will be presented with the task of developing a new campus for the imaginary \u2018University of Milchester\u2019.<\/p>\n

You will have to work against the clock with your team to create the ideal campus, whilst taking into consideration important factors such as costs, energy efficiency, and the local and wider community. However, your team will have to deal with various complications throughout such as budget cuts and global responses to climate change. Working together, you must all agree on how best to overcome these unforeseen interventions.”<\/p>\n

“Although the Sustainability Challenge may seem a daunting task to embark upon during your first week at university, it is an excellent chance to push yourself outside of your natural comfort zone. <\/strong>Working in a team of people I had never met before allowed me to improve my skills of communication and teamwork, as well as grow in confidence<\/strong>.”<\/h4>\n<\/blockquote>\n

“The Sustainability Challenge increased my awareness of how I could make a constructive impact on the area I lived in which is something I had not considered before participating.<\/p>\n

Importantly, the Sustainability Challenge embodies the essence of your new university – one committed to imposing a positive change in society by overcoming problems and working across disciplines to achieve this.”<\/p>\n
