Louise Sethi, Careers Consultant<\/p><\/div>\n

I became a careers consultant after a career in the media, which included working in TV, media relations and television regulation.\u00a0 This prompted me to start-up the Media Club<\/a> which is for any University of Manchester students interested in a career in broadcasting, publishing, journalism, marketing or PR.\u00a0 I also have specialist knowledge of Psychometric testing<\/a> and run workshops<\/a> for students who are preparing to take a test as part of a job application.\u00a0 I\u2019m the link Careers Consultant for Religions and Theology, Archaeology, Classics and Ancient History, Art History and Visual Studies, History and Int Disaster Management & Humanitarian Response, and if you\u2019re studying one of these subjects you\u2019re likely to see me at some point during the year.\u00a0 I\u2019m also the main careers contact for SALC PGT students.\u00a0 Please feel free to drop me a line any time \u00a0louise.sethi@manchester.ac.uk<\/a><\/p>\n

Helen Buzdugan, Careers Consultant<\/p><\/div>\n

Having graduated (some time ago!) with a degree in Russian Studies, I\u2019m now one of the link Careers Consultants for Languages programmes. (So if you are a Languages student and want to get in touch at any time about your career plans, feel free to email me: helen.buzdugan@manchester.ac.uk<\/a>. NB: I work Mon-Wed). Before finally hitting on my dream job as a university careers consultant I experienced a range of jobs, from teaching English in Japan and Russia to data analytics and publishing, so I especially enjoy supporting students who are exploring options and need some support with figuring out their career direction. I also deliver our LinkedIn Academy, a hands-on training workshop to help students make the most of LinkedIn for career research, networking and job hunting.<\/p>\n

Delia Goodwin, Careers Consultant<\/p><\/div>\n

I have worked at the Careers Service for 18 years, following a career in teaching and as a careers adviser in high schools and sixth forms. My interests are diverse and include education, the cultural and charity sectors, the media and publishing. One of the main features of my job is being the lead consultant for disability, which enables me to meet and advise students and graduates with disabilities and long term health conditions from all years and subjects. Sophie Coller, Careers Consultant<\/p><\/div>\n

A relatively new addition to this University, I have 16 years\u2019 experience of delivering careers advice and guidance in a diverse range of environments. My degree was in English Literature and I can well relate to the paradox of choice that studying a non-vocational degree can bring, as such I am always happy to help students who don\u2019t know what they want to do when they graduate. I am the link Careers Consultant for Linguistics and English Language as well as English, American Studies and Creative Writing. I have personal insight into working within the Education and Social Care sectors and recently I have worked to help undergraduate students to find work placements and better understand employer expectations. Top tip: My top tip would be to take time to understand and be able to communicate the transferable skills that you have gained during your time at University. The\u00a0Careers web page<\/a>\u00a0 is a great resource and explains how to book an appointment for careers guidance, applications advice and preparation for a job or postgraduate study interview, e.g. by calling 0161 275 2829 or by dropping in to see them. When you get in touch, a Careers Information Officer will be on hand to help and will make sure you see the most appropriate Careers Consultant.\u00a0 Because they all have different specialisms, this may not be the person who links with your subject. \u00a0Don\u2019t forget, you can use the Careers Service at any point during your degree or within two years of graduating. \u00a0 \u00a0<\/p>\n
