SoSS Teaching Roadmap<\/h1>\n

Introduction<\/h2>\n

These resources are designed to help colleagues (including line managers and mentors) to reflect on their current contribution<\/strong> to professional teaching standards, identify directions for future development<\/strong>, and consider applying for.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The resources are designed around the four Descriptors of the UK Professional Standards Framework (UKPSF)<\/a>, a globally-recognised framework for benchmarking success within HE teaching and learning support, and the University\u2019s Teaching Expectations paper.<\/p>\n

The resources will also help colleagues planning to apply for a fellowship of AdvanceHE. They award four different categories of Fellowship: Associate Fellowship (AFHEA) (Descriptor 1), Fellowship (FHEA) (Descriptor 2), Senior Fellowship (SFHEA) (Descriptor 3) and Principal Fellowship (PFHEA) (Descriptor 4). These four categories reflect the wide range of professional practice carried out by individuals who teach and\/or support learning in higher education; from those who have a partial role in teaching\/supporting learning through to senior professionals with strategic impact on teaching and learning in an organisational, national and\/or international setting. The four categories of Fellowship are awarded on the basis of evidence<\/u> of professional practice which meets the requirements of one of the four Descriptors of the UK Professional Standards Framework (UKPSF). In deciding which category of Fellowship to apply for at this stage in your career, you will need to determine which of the four Descriptors of the UKPSF is most appropriate to your practice and professional experience. We strongly advise you to discuss your aspirations and professional development with your line manager\/mentor and the T&L leadership in your Department (see contact details below).<\/p>\n

This document describes, in particular, activities that contribute to descriptors 2 (Fellowship) – 4 (Principal Fellowship).<\/p>\n

Notice that you may want to explore the accreditation that colleagues in the Faculty of Humanities can acquire via the Humanities New Academics Programme (HNAP<\/a>) and the Leadership in Education Awards Programme (LEAP<\/a>).<\/p>\n
