Our PPIE is AWARD WINNING !
đą The Health and Youth Work Project has a major announcement !
đ
Our Young Peopleâs Advisory Group (YPAG) is officially award-winning! đ
Weâre thrilled to have secured additional funding from the NIHR MH-TRC Mission: Children and Young Peopleâs Mental Health theme đ
The YPAG are absolutely delighted and already buzzing with ideas as we begin planning our pitch: ‘Research Residential: No Such Word as Canât!’ đ„ł
Here is how they won this additional funding:
At the NIHR MH-TRC online pitch event, the YPAG introduced themselves as a group of young people involved in the Health and Youth Work Project, which focuses on supporting those with long-term physical and mental health conditions. They explained that the group is made up of young people from across England with complex needs, and highlighted the challenges of bringing everyone together. Because of this, the YPAG proposed an in-person residential in Manchester, where they would have the time and space to collaborate, create research outputs, and develop a national guide to help researchers better involve young people with long-term conditions in health related research.
They emphasised that the residential is about more than just research, focusing on empowerment, inclusion, and challenging the idea that having complex needs limits what young people can achieve. The YPAG also highlighted the strong link between physical and mental health, explaining how bringing young people together in a supportive environment can improve confidence, wellbeing, and peer connection. They described how the residential would benefit others by acting as a âtest and learnâ pilot and encouraging greater involvement of young people in research.
Finally, they outlined that the ÂŁ400 would be used to support accessibility and inclusion, including accommodation, transport, food, and creative resources. They concluded by reinforcing the message that young people with complex needs are capable and that meaningful opportunities arise when they are trusted, included, and believed in.
WELL DONE TO YPAG !
And a huge thank you to NIHR (National Institute for Health and Care Research), Sarah Ashton and Roksana Krol
