National Drug Evidence Centre
The National Drug Evidence Centre (NDEC) carries out epidemiological and policy-related research in the field of substance misuse, with a focus on surveillance and evaluation of substance misuse treatment.
For more than two decades NDEC (formerly the Drug Misuse Research Unit) been concerned with understanding the extent and nature of drug/alcohol problems in communities in the context of public health, alongside evaluation of risk prevention and intervention responses.
We collaborate closely with OHID (Office for Health Improvement and Disparities) to monitor and evaluate substance misuse treatment in England.
We have ongoing collaborations with external academic institutions contributing our research expertise to maximise use of real world data for service users’ benefit.
The Centre is part of the Epidemiology and Public Health Group at The University of Manchester.
