The first NWSTC Surgical Showcase event was held in Liverpool on October 20th 2023.

We saw presentations from surgeons including:

• Prof Lucy Chappell – DHSC Chief Scientific Adviser & NIHR Chief Executive Officer
• Prof Peter Hutchinson – Director of Clinical Research, RCS England
• Prof Jane Blazeby – Professor of Surgery, University of Bristol
• Mr Jayden Gittens – intercalating medical student and PhD candidate, University of Liverpool
• Mr Shaneel Shah – Core surgical trainee, Manchester
• Dr Louise Wan – Surgical Specialty Lead for Research in Gynaecological Cancers, Liverpool Women’s Hospital

showcasing the amazing work they are doing in their surgical fields, mainly across the North West.

Fantastic discussions were had, along with networking opportunities.  It was great to see enthusiasm for the future of surgery from all the attendees.
