The first Optometry Education Conference will take place online on Monday 29 June 2026, introduced by The University of Manchester. We are looking forward to welcoming you. 

This conference seeks to bring together researchers, optometrists and educators involved in undergraduate and postgraduate optometry teaching/supervision. It is an opportunity to meet colleagues, share good practice and learn about developments in optometry education.  

Abstracts

Abstract submissions for 2026 are now closed. The below is for information only.  

We invite colleagues to submit abstracts for the conference to one of two streams. The abstract submission portal for 2026 will open at the start of January 2026.

Completed work 

Abstracts presenting scholarship based on completed optometry education research (including completed teaching evaluation) that include a study design, methods and results. 

Teaching innovation and work in progress 

Abstracts describing innovation in optometry education that report novel teaching, learning or assessment approaches that have been delivered but have not yet been fully evaluated.
