We are the Manchester branch of North West Surgical Trials Centre (NWSTC), one of nine Royal College of Surgeons (RCS) Surgical Trials Centres that have been established since 2013, with the aim to:
Showcase Manchester’s academic surgical achievements, facilitate networking, provide links to training in clinical trials and research opportunities and support the development of surgical trials.
NWSTC is embedded in the Liverpool Clinical Trials Centre and is a collaboration between the University of Liverpool and The University of Manchester.
The collaborative is funded by the Masonic Charitable Foundation (Manchester) and the Sir John Fisher Foundation (Liverpool).

Trainee collaboratives
The NWSTC is pleased to support the following trainee collaborative groups in the region.
Northwest Research Collaborative (NWRC)
The NWRC was set up in 2012 by surgical specialty trainees from the Northwestern Deanery to produce surgically focused, high quality research.
By collaborating as a group, they are able to collect data from multiple centres, putting them in an ideal position to produce high impact and clinically relevant research. They are always on the lookout for new members and new research ideas. They welcome trainees with an interest in surgery, from FY1 to ST8.
