The first North West Surgical Trial Centre (NWSTC) Surgical Workshop Sandpit Day for 2024 was held at the University of Liverpool on 26^th April with 18 attendees.

We had talks from:

• Prof Michael Jenkinson on designing clinical trials and making an impact on clinical care (PICO) and Surgical Trials – Quo Vadis
• Prof Cliona Kirwan on the need for feasibility in a study
• Dr Sarah Gorst on core outcomes in trials
• Mr Nick Heywood on how to run a PPI (Patient & Public Involvement) session.

Plus an excellent sandpit session, supported by Prof Carrol Gamble and Prof Dale Vimalachandran with lots of exciting ideas and thought-provoking discussions.
