Another progress update on the development of a centralised GM Practice Education Centre of Excellence.

Since our last blog post, the Greater Manchester Practice Education Centre of Excellence (GM PECE) steering group has been working hard to succinctly identify what the PECE will be and what it aims to create.

To help create a strong purpose and guide expectations, we have developed a mission, vision and value statement.

Our mission

Our mission is to raise the profile of practice-based learning through a multi-professional GM PECE that supports and develops educators to facilitate high-quality experiences for all.

Our vision

The PECE will be an advisory group providing best practice education recommendations through ongoing independent research, knowledge exchange, quality assurance, and innovation.

Guided by the GM Health & Care Learning Environment Strategy, the Centre will aim to ensure that there is enhanced partnership working across care providers and higher education institutions within the development of effective practice-based learning experiences as a key part of all non-medical healthcare programmes.

We aim to create a culture that supports educators in practice as valued contributors to the learning experience while creating a safe environment for innovation in practice-based learning.

Our values

  • Collaboration to drive change and innovation to ensure excellence in practice for better experiences for learners and educators.
  • Respect for individual contribution and knowledge exchange to create a better future for practice-based education.
  • Pride in our contribution for practice-based education excellence.
  • Inspiring each other through recognition of good practice.
