Project website

This website will be updated regularly and will be the main portal for the resources and outputs of this project, such as audio recordings from the workshops and accompanying summaries in English and Spanish; information about scholarly outputs; and artistic resources.

Flamenco and Memory Performance

One of the key aims of this research network is to move beyond the traditional theory-practice divide in academia. Throughout this project, we will work with elderly and younger flamenco artists to prepare an artistic performance that deals with personal and collective memories of the Franco-dictatorship. This performance will be staged in Seville and recorded.

Flamenco and Memory Network Report

This document will summarise the conclusions of the three workshops in an accessible manner in both English and Spanish. We believe that this report will facilitate future publications on flamenco and memory in the media and that it will feed into debates in the area of ‘democratic memory’ in Spain, as well as into the artistic and educational programmes of flamenco festivals, music schools and other institutions in Spain, the United Kingdom and beyond.

Special issue in academic journal of performance studies

The special issue will contain contributions from both scholars and artists in dynamic and innovative textual formats.

Please check back later for textual and audio-visual resources that will be created as part of this project.
