Policy on Workshop Attendance
Students must attend every day of a workshop, and are expected to be punctual. The workshops are a vital part of the programme and, therefore, we expect all students to book the time off in advance, so they are able to attend their workshops in full. A student may request to miss up to two workshops throughout the programme. If a student does not attend, in full, the required number of workshops, then it may not be possible for them to complete the MSc Financial Management programme.
Students who are absent for one or more days (or part of a day) will be deemed to have been absent from the entire workshop unless there are mitigating circumstances.
What should I do if I can’t attend a workshop?
If you cannot attend any part of the workshop that you are scheduled for, you will need to inform the Student Support Team no later than 4 weeks before the workshop takes place in order for an alternative workshop assignment to be arranged.
If you notify the team within 4 weeks of the workshop taking place, then you will be zero graded for the workshop assessment and the alternative workshop assignment will not be applicable. This is unless you have supported mitigating circumstances.
If you do have mitigating circumstances, you will need to:
- Complete the Request for Mitigation Form (which can be found here);
- Obtain evidence to support your mitigating circumstances application;
- Email the completed form and evidence to the Student Support Team as soon as possible (and within 4 weeks of the workshop taking place).
The completed form and evidence will be saved to your record so that, in future Boards and Panels, we can explain why you did not attend a workshop.
For more information on mitigating circumstances, please visit the Mitigating Circumstances page.
