THOR CPD

THOR aims to support the continuing professional development (CPD) of participating doctors who report to the scheme.

For all of our schemes, it is possible for doctors to write reflection notes on cases for which they identify learning points, within the confidential confines of their individual login.

An individual annual summary table can then be downloaded and utilised to evidence good medical practice (GMP) for appraisal and revalidation purposes.

In addition, there is a series of online learning modules on important occupational health topics available to all reporters. These modules are:

  • Occupational Dermatoses
  • Stress and Anxiety
  • Back Pain
  • Occupational Asthma
  • Depression
  • WRULD
  • Bullying
  • HAVS

There are additional learning resources available to OPRA and THOR-GP reporters, which appear as appropriate to the type of individual case being reported. These may be in the form of existing THOR data or guidance documents that can help benchmarking of practice and other forms of audit.

A newly developed series of seminars is also available as an important source of CPD for all THOR reporters and postgraduate students at the Centre for Occupational and Environmental Health (COEH). You can read about past seminars on our blog. Some of our most recent Seminar titles are:

  • Work and risk of Covid-19 in the UK. Results of the PROTECT study
  • Asthma mimics; how to spot them in the occupational lung disease clinic
  • Occupational health and expatriate workers. Current practice and future trends
