What is the purpose of this clinic?

The spectacle dispensing clinic offers the following:

• a wide range of specialist spectacle lenses including safety spectacles, visual display unit (VDU) spectacles, sports eyewear and prescription sunglasses;
• a comprehensive range of fashionable eyewear at competitive prices, and we specialise in Silhouette rimless eyewear;
• a range of budget spectacles, which are free of charge with an NHS voucher;
• myopia control lenses;
• precision tinted lenses.

Who can be seen?

We welcome all students, staff and members of the public, including children.

Costs

There is no charge for the appointment. Budget spectacles start from £50.

What happens at appointments?

A student optometrist will advise you on the best frame and spectacle lens options to suit your prescription and needs. This will be carried out under the supervision of a member of our teaching staff who are all either GOC-registered dispensing opticians or optometrists.

As the dispensing is very closely supervised, it is important to allow up to 1.5 hours for the full dispensing appointment.

What to bring

Please bring any current spectacles and a copy of your most recent spectacle UK prescription.

If your most recent eye test was at our eye examination clinic, we will have this information on file so a copy of your prescription will not be required.
