The i3HS Hub is a multidisciplinary five year programme to develop research and teaching capacity between data science, public health and clinical medicine for population health gain.
We are a team of data scientists, public health specialists and epidemiologists, computer scientists, artificial intelligence experts, health economists, artists, technology enhanced learning experts and professional services staff who are looking forward to working with you.
Find out about recent activities and articles on our blog.
We collaborate with internal and external colleagues on topics including:
- Bio-health informatics
- Clinical bioinformatics
- Machine learning
- Data mining
- Biostatistics
- Health economics
- Public health
- Primary care
This approach helps us develop learner-centric, high quality and reusable learning materials, and attract high impact interdisciplinary research grants.
Progress to date
Our multidisciplinary team has continued to expand, succeeding in:
- providing online, blended and face-to-face opportunities for open access, continuous professional development (CPD), postgraduate taught (PGT) and postgraduate research (PGR);
- increasing research income from global and national funders including UKRI;
- collaborating with the NHS, local authorities, national and international organisations;
- growing our partnerships with the University’s world-leading teaching and research institutes;

Help shape the i3HS Hub
Who are you? How can we help you?
How agile is your teaching? Can you reuse materials for different students easily and with minimal effort?
The i3HS Hub is building reusable teaching materials and collecting user stories to ensure that we capture learners’ needs quickly and effectively.
Submit your user story to help shape the materials we create!
Study with us
Take a look at the current courses offered by the i3HS Hub at The University of Manchester, ranging from short open access CPD through to full master’s level programmes.
Our focus is on the development of reusable teaching materials that can be used across many platforms and which educators can apply their own context to.
Our CPD courses are easy to access and incorporate the latest developments in public health and data sciences.
Virtual reality evaluation
Do you want to walk along a plank 300ft in the air, or swim underwater with turtles and whales?
Our virtual reality suite enables us to harness advances in 3D and 4D simulation technologies to develop cutting-edge, interactive learning materials and environments.
We are currently evaluating the use of Virtual Reality (VR) in teaching, research and wellbeing and we are offering you the opportunity to try out some of our VR software.
We have over 50 titles that include:
- anatomy
- physiology
- coding
- robotics
- molecular biology
- imaging
- 360 video
- relaxation
