Proteintech recently hosted the immunohistochemistry (IHC) experts from Manchester Brain Bank!

Post-mortem tissue IHC often has issues due to inconsistent sample handling, long-term storage, and artefacts to name but a few. Different tissue types also have their own challenges. At this webinar, Manchester Brain Bank gave tips and tricks to help researchers with IHC on post-mortem human brain tissue.

Yvonne Davidson and James Minshull, Senior Research Technicians at Manchester Brain Bank spoke on the topic of routine histology, tissue processing and practicalities of immunohistochemical and immunofluorescent staining of post-mortem FFPE brain tissue.

Dr Andrew Robinson gave an overview of IHC in practice by speaking about a recent Manchester Brain Bank publication: Retrospective neuropathological diagnosis of TDP-43 proteinopathies: Factors affecting immunoreactivity of phosphorylated TDP-43 in fixed post-mortem brain tissue

An in-depth Q&A followed with the speakers where they helped advise attendees on how to improve their IHC techniques.

The webinar received amazing feedback. Rebecca Northeast (Proteintech Product Manager and Science Liaison) remarked:

“I love learning from experts. And the webinar on IHC tips for FFPE tissue from the team at Manchester Brain Bank was a very special one!”
