Small Award Scheme

At the Manchester Vision Network (MVN) conference each summer, the steering group announces its Small Award Scheme and subsequently invites applications by email.

The Small Award Scheme provides funds for activities that will advance research conducted within the network.

There are no restrictions on what the funds are used for, providing a sufficiently strong case is made.

We particularly welcome applications that emphasise one or more of the following:

  • interdisciplinary research;
  • subsequent external funding application(s);
  • establishing new collaborations;
  • bridging the gap between basic and clinical research.

Applications are assessed by a brief form requiring some background information about the reasons funding is required and the proposed work to be undertaken.

We anticipate making 2-3 awards per year (each worth around £1,000 to £2,000).

Funds should be spent within one year of the award.

Successful applicants will be expected to present a talk (ideally on a project related to the funding application) at the MVN conference in the two years following the award.
