Big White Wall Launches at the University of Manchester
To mark World Mental Health Day, the University of Manchester have launched Big White Wall, for all students, researchers and staff. Big White Wall is a 24/7 online mental health and wellbeing resource, which is completely anonymous and confidential. The platform provides a safe space where you can explore your own feelings in an online community, which is monitored by trained clinicians.
Resources and forums are available on Big White Wall to help you with issues you may be facing through your PhD journey, or in your personal life. Using the Big White Wall forum allows you to remain anonymous whilst discussing challenges with like-minded individuals, who may be going through similar experiences. If you’re struggling to articulate how you’re feeling in words, you can express yourself visually and add artwork to ‘The Wall’, as well as interacting with artwork created by other users.
Group courses are also available on Big White Wall, which can help you to gain more control over your emotional health. Courses cover guidance on a range of topics such as ‘managing negative thinking’, ‘tuning into the positive’ and ‘problem solving’. In additional there are a number of useful resources, such as tests and articles which will help you to better understand what’s going on so that you can start to feel better.
