CCA examiner training

Clinical examiners

All clinical examiners (FY2 equivalent or above) who wish to examine in CCAs are now required to attend a face-to-face PRiME CCA New Examiner Workshop.

This training prepares examiners to examine across Years 1-5 of the MBChB programme, and supports a consistent approach to CCA examining across all year groups.

To be eligible to attend the training and examine in CCAs, you must:

  • be FY2 equivalent or above;
  • be based within one of our NHS partner organisations or affiliated general practices;
  • be involved in teaching our students, for example as a clinical placement supervisor, or intend to become involved in the near future;
  • attend a face-to-face PRiME CCA new examiner workshop;
  • commit to examining in at least one CCA during the academic year.

Years 3-5 CCAs take place across our four main Clinical Education Campuses: Salford Hospital, Royal Preston Hospital, MFT Oxford Road and MFT Wythenshawe. Years 1, 2 and Graduate Entry Medicine (GEM) CCAs take place in the Stopford Building on the University campus. 

Upcoming workshops

You may attend a PRiME CCA new examiner workshop at any of the advertised locations. The location at which you complete your training does not determine where you can subsequently examine.

Non-clinical examiners and Years 1 and 2 only

Separate training dates will be advertised in due course for non-clinical examiners, and examiners who only wish to examine in Years 1 and 2 CCAs.
