Study

We have the largest programme of postgraduate education in occupational health anywhere in the UK, offering courses specifically tailored to meet the needs of students wishing to train in occupational medicine and hygiene.

Courses

Our courses are offered as part-time, blended learning programmes. We use a mix of modalities in our postgraduate teaching and learning and our web-based instruction includes online learning modules, webinar tutorials, online discussion forums and other tools designed to support learning from a distance.

Besides the opportunity to achieve University qualifications, many of our learners use our courses to prepare for their professional qualifications in these disciplines, such as the Membership (MFOM) of the Faculties of Occupational Medicine of the Royal Colleges of Physicians of London and Ireland.

We offer the following learning opportunities:

Postgraduate research

The Centre for Occupational and Environmental Health currently has more than 20 PhD students on its doctoral programme, as well as options for MPhil degrees. The range of projects currently being undertaken is at least as wide as that of the research group as a whole and are often undertaken in collaboration with other Medical and Human Sciences Faculty research groups (such as respiratory medicine) or with researchers (such as in atmospheric scientists) from other Faculties. Our students come from all over the world.
