What we know

Throughout the course of the pandemic, researchers from both inside and out of the PROTECT study have worked to better understand the nature of COVID-19 and transmission of the virus.

As more evidence has emerged, we have been able to pull together a series of statements which capture the essence of the scientific findings. These are categorised into “high” and “medium” confidence.

High confidence statements indicate those which are widely agreed to be scientifically accurate.

Medium confidence statements, whilst generally agreed upon, are taken from emerging knowledge and require more time or testing to be better understood
