Dr Nicholas Barnes a Lecturer in Healthcare Sciences (Clinical Immunology) at the Lydia Becker Institute of Immunology and Inflammation has been announced as the winner of the British Society for Immunology’s Immunology Teaching Excellence Award 2021.
This award is presented annually by the Society to recognise an exceptional immunology teacher working in a higher education institute in the UK.
The BSI highlighted Dr Barnes’ innovative approach to teaching via his work with UK NEQAS to pilot the use of a web-based resource of patient cases (interpretative EQA scheme) which allowed students to develop their skills in an interactive/safe environment.
Institute Director Prof Tracy Hussell stated:
