Listening difficulty in individuals with normal hearing

In this research project, we try to understand why some people have difficulty understanding speech in noise even though they have normal, or near normal, hearing.

About the research

How well we hear speech in background noise is of great importance to our daily communication. However, it remains a topic that is not yet fully understood. Some individuals can have normal hearing when they are tested with standard clinical equipment, yet they report struggling in daily conversation in noise. This study aims to identify and categorize the different types of listening difficulty in noise in people with normal or near normal hearing. This study will, hopefully, help us better understand this specific population and improve our supporting strategies.
