Introduction:

The BioMS Facility is there to help you obtain the best possible data in a timely fashion. To do this the facility needs to have all the relevant information to ensure the correct analyses are performed and to know where your samples are so that they can be analysed when the instrument is ready. Providing these details will minimise delays to getting your samples analysed.

Objective:

This document provides the essential steps required for sample submission.

Scope:

Applicable to all people submitting samples to the BioMS Facility

Submission guidelines

Facility staff are there to help; if you are unsure of any part of this process please talk with a member of staff before beginning.

  1. Complete an order in PPMS and wait for it to be approved. Please ensure all relevant information is completed in the order, including a manifest.
  2. Dry down your samples in the recommended sample vials (Waters: 186002640) using a vacuum centrifuge (systems available in BioMS)
  3. Label your samples with clear numbers that correspond with the numbers in the manifest. The numbers should match with the run order e.g. sample 1 first, followed by samples 2, 3 and 4. Please use a high quality permanent marker.
  4. Samples should be placed in the appropriate box:
    1. QE HF: Orange boxes 1-3
    2. Orbitrap Elite: Blue box
    3. Velos: Pink box
  5. Complete the sample log form in full including the PPMS order and manifest numbers

Please note that failure to follow the submission guidelines will result in delays in analysing your samples.
