The start of October marked the beginning of my AHRC Leadership Fellowship. Awarded for the research programme, Geographies of Muslim Women and the UK Cultural and Creative Economy, the work will go by the shorter name of ‘Creative Muslim Women’. As detailed on the home page and in the about section of these dedicated webpages, over the next couple of years I will conduct research into the contributions of Muslim women to UK fashion, media and visual arts. In order to document and highlight these contributions I have taken a delivery of some shiny equipment – a new Nikon camera (complete with scary camera lens) and a reliable – I hope – audio recorder. Excitement doesn’t quite cover how much I’m looking forward to this period of focused research and its outcomes. I’ll be updating the site regularly with further news…
