The social injustices experienced by women in the creative industries have been brought to the world’s attention by the high profile #MeTooand Time’s Up campaigns. While issues of race have also been highlighted in the discussion of labour inequality and exclusion with #OscarsSoWhite, the significance of religion has been missed out of the equation.

Check out the full piece written published in The Conversation on 15 March. It’s worth noting that many staff at UK research intensive universities, including myself, are involved in ongoing industrial dispute (about the marketisation of the academy, and – as part of that drive – the swingeing cuts proposed to our pensions). So, although the piece was uploaded on a strike day, it was written on a non-strike day.
