Over the course of the last three days, the DARE Consortium met in Den Haag, kindly hosted by the University of Leiden team for a research symposium and a consortium meeting. The research symposium was an opportunity to engage with some of the initial findings of the research.

Structured around a series of roundtables the symposium dealt with the following questions: Why are networks relevant to the study of radicalisation milieus?; How are connections between radicalisation actors formed and disrupted?; What communicative practices characterise radicalisation milieus and networks?; and finally, the question of how does the DARE research extend our knowledge about communicative practices and social networks in radicalisation?

The Consortium meeting included a series of Work Package sessions discussing some of the common themes that have emerged across the various parts of the project.

Researchers are currently deep in writing up the various national reports and the meeting provided an excellent opportunity to troubleshoot some of the common concerns but also to identify shared opportunities and common trends in the research findings.

One participant at the meeting noted: “We are extremely thankful to the University of Leiden for hosting such an interesting and engaging few days that have really allowed us to think about the country research within the broader DARE project and to focus on common themes across the project”.
