Sathark Sarawagi – BSc Management 2025 – Alumni Profile
“The flexibility of the BSc Management programme at AMBS gave me the confidence to think holistically and act entrepreneurially”
My name is Sarthak Sarawagi, and I graduated with a BSc (Hons) in Management from the University of Manchester in the Class of 2025.
Before joining Alliance Manchester Business School (AMBS), I completed my IB Diploma at Singapore International School, Mumbai. From an early stage, I developed a strong interest in entrepreneurship, which led me to take on leadership roles, including leading an Interact Club and organising community service initiatives in my city.
I chose to pursue my undergraduate studies in the UK due to its academic structure and the breadth of opportunities available. The BSc Management programme at AMBS stood out to me because of its interdisciplinary flexibility, allowing me to study modules across Finance, Economics, Operations, and Marketing. This approach helped me build a comprehensive understanding of how businesses operate while developing the mindset needed to think like an entrepreneur. In addition, Manchester offered an active student environment while being one of the UK’s largest and most dynamic cities.
My time at Manchester was defined by a strong sense of community. I served as the President of the Indian Society, where I had the opportunity to introduce and celebrate cultural experiences with the wider student body. I was also actively involved in the Management, Finance, and Consulting societies, which allowed me to connect with like-minded individuals and gain early exposure to different career paths. Studying in the UK also allowed my friend and me to travel across the country and Europe, further enriching my university experience.
Since graduating, I have embarked on my entrepreneurial journey by establishing a garment manufacturing business based in Mumbai. The accessibility of resources such as the Masood Entrepreneurship Centre, combined with the continued support of faculty members, played a meaningful role in translating academic learning into real-world application. The ability to tailor my course modules to my interests, alongside hands-on leadership experience through societies, helped me become a well-rounded learner and directly supported my career development.
For prospective and incoming students, moving far from home and away from family and friends can initially feel daunting. However, it is important to remember that everyone at the University is there to learn, connect, and grow together. Staying open-minded, getting involved in societies, and making the most of the opportunities available can make your time at Manchester both rewarding and transformative.
