Hi, I’m Mahzaib, and here’s a bit of my story. If you’re someone who is still figuring out what path to take, you’ve definitely come to the right place. Not too long ago, I was in that exact position, unsure of where my passion lay and what direction I wanted my life to go in. It felt like a shaky start, full of questions and second guessing, but sometimes those uncertain beginnings lead you exactly where you are meant to be.

Before coming to the University of Manchester, I had ambition but no clear direction. Like many people, I was figuring things out as I went along, unsure of what career path truly fit me. Choosing to pursue an MSc in Business Analysis and Strategic Management felt like a leap of faith, one of those decisions you make with hope more than certainty. Looking back now, I can confidently say it was the best decision I have ever made.

The University of Manchester became so much more than just a place to study. I took a really hands on and proactive approach during my time there, actively looking for opportunities to get involved beyond the classroom. This led me to take on roles such as Student Ambassador, Student Representative, and MCC Caller, where I was constantly engaging with people, building relationships, and developing my communication skills. Each of these experiences pushed me out of my comfort zone and helped me grow in confidence, adaptability, and teamwork. Alongside this, I also had the chance to work as a Student Ambassador for getCredible, where I developed skills in communication and lead generation, adding another layer to my professional experience while still studying. I also fell in love with the city itself, it is so vibrant, especially when the sun is out (albeit a rare occasion), and everything feels alive. It is such a walkable place, and somewhere along the way I met some of the best people and made memories I truly miss.

One of the most defining parts of the programme was my project with Emile Education, which was not just another assignment but a real client consulting experience. Working on a live project meant tackling genuine business challenges, collaborating in a team, and delivering solutions that had real impact. It was the first time I truly felt like I was stepping into the professional world, applying everything I had learned in a practical setting. That experience became a key stepping stone for me, giving me the confidence and exposure I needed before transitioning into full time roles.

The MSc programme as a whole shaped the way I think and approach problems today. It taught me how to break down complexity, think strategically, and approach challenges with both structure and creativity. More importantly, it gave me the confidence to trust my ideas and back myself. These are not just skills for a job, they are skills for life, and they continue to guide me every day.
After graduating, I stepped into the agency world and I am working at Havas as a Global New Business and Growth Platformer, surrounded by incredibly talented and driven individuals. Being part of such a fast paced and creative industry has been an exciting journey, and I can clearly see how everything I learned in Manchester has contributed to getting me here and helping me thrive.
If there is one thing my journey has taught me, it is that it is okay not to have everything figured out. Sometimes all it takes is one brave decision to change everything. For me, that decision was Manchester, and it changed my life in ways I never imagined.
