by | Sep 2, 2020 | Events | 0 comments

Join Terry Hanley (SEED Associate Director of Research – Impact) and Carly Chadwick (SEED Knowledge Exchange and Impact Officer) to find out more about work that’s happening in response to the pandemic, and to share good practice for embedding impact into research. The presentations will be from SEED researchers, but the discussion will be relevant to colleagues across Humanities.

SEEDs of Change in a Pandemic: How do we Evaluate the Impact of our Research?

Date: 16.9.20

Time: 12.00-1.30

Venue: Zoom (please register at https://www.eventbrite.com/e/seeds-of-change-how-do-we-evaluate-the-impact-of-our-research-tickets-119217242983)

This will be an opportunity to hear about the breadth of research that is conducted in SEED, and to discuss the ways that this research is making a difference to the communities that we work with. The lunchtime session is open to all interested staff and research students across the Faculty of Humanities. It will include a series of 10 minute presentations about research projects conducted by staff in SEED which will:

  • Briefly outline the research project in question
  • Highlight the strategies for generating impact in the projects
  • Talk about how any impact will be evidenced/has been evidenced to date

Presenters

Joe Blakey (Geography): Decarbonising Consumption in Manchester’s COVID-19 Recovery

Miguel Antonio Lim (Manchester Institute of Education): COVID and Chinese and East Asian University Students in the UK: Safety, Security, and Communication

Charis Enns (Global Development Institute): Identifying and Mitigating the Impacts of COVID-19 on Legal and Sustainable Wildlife Trade in Low and Middle Income Countries

Ola Demkowicz (Manchester Institute of Education): Teenagers’ Experiences of Life in Lockdown

There will be an opportunity to ask questions to the project leads, and hear from Carly about some of the resources and support available for academics to help embed impact into their work.

We look forward to seeing you there (bring a cake)!
