AdvanceHE Teaching and Learning Accreditation

This page provides links and information about how staff who teach in the School of Social Sciences can learn about accreditation with AdvanceHE.

Advance HE is a member-led, sector-owned charity that works with institutions and higher education across the world to improve higher education for staff, students and society. (Advance HE)

The below sections provide information about various schemes which are available for staff to consider applying for. They are loosely arranged in the order that staff might progress through them during their teaching career.

AdvanceHE Fellowships

Find out more about AdvanceHE Fellowships from the AdvanceHE website.

Advance HE Knowledge Hub

The Advance HE Knowledge Hub brings together thousands of higher education resources covering a wide range of topics and themes all into one place.

Search by keyword or use the search filters on theme, sub-theme and content type to find resources relevant to you.

Leadership in Education Awards Programme (LEAP)

The Leadership in Education Awards Programme (LEAP) supports you in documenting and evidencing your teaching excellence, and is an opportunity for you to receive a formal, national qualification for your teaching.

The programme is accredited by AdvanceHE (formerly the Higher Education Academy) and can award Associate, Fellowship, Senior and Principal HEA Fellowships.

National Teaching Fellowship Scheme

The purpose of the National Teaching Fellowship Scheme (NTFS) is to recognise, reward and celebrate individuals who have made an outstanding impact on student outcomes and the teaching profession. You may find it particularly useful to look at:

  • the guidance for institutions and teams submitting;
  • the guidance for reviewers, in order to identify key aspects of a high-quality submission;
  • the list of previous winners.

Colleagues wishing to be considered as candidates for the University’s NTFS nominations are advised to get in touch with their teaching lead/mentor/line manager.

Please note that nominations for 2021 are now closed.  Details on 2022 submissions will be added to the AdvanceHE website soon.
