The SoSS eLearning Team

The team provides advice, guidance and demonstrations to academic staff on the opportunities for using technology in teaching, learning and assessment, and also supports the use of Blackboard and other supported tools.

Dan RigbyDan Rigby

Academic eLearning lead

Dan is a Professor of Economics, who works on the economics of health, environment, and education.

His research includes work on the economics of student misconduct including contract cheating, and student (mis)use of gen-AI.

In his role as eLearning Lead he has a particular interest in the use of innovative technologies to support teaching and learning, assessment design and academic integrity.

 

Elsa LeeElsa Lee

Assistant eLearning Manager

Elsa has worked in eLearning for a number of years, most of it at the University of Manchester. She currently manages both the AMBS and SoSS eLearning team, working with colleagues to deliver Faculty and University objectives.

She welcomes opportunities to share knowledge and collaborate to improve processes and resources.

Aside from this, Elsa is an avid foodie who enjoys baking, cooking and eating out in Manchester.

 

Charlotte WardenCharlotte Warden

Learning Designer

Charlotte works mainly with colleagues in the School of Social Sciences.

She joined the university in 2015 with a background in teaching and learning having taught in a variety of FE and HE settings since 2002. Her experience and focus lies in supporting the development of inclusive learning environments that foster community, collaboration and well-being.

As a Learning Designer, Charlotte can work with you to develop or amend programmes and units, assessments, and learning activities. She can support you in embedding digital capabilities, employability, inclusiveness and sustainability into your curriculum and learner experience. She can help you identify appropriate learning technologies and help you obtain support and training from the eLearning team as needed.

 

 

Janean LancasterJanean Lancaster

Learning Technologist

Janean joined the University in 2020 and is the service area lead for the Humanities eLearning Team’s web and SharePoint sites (including Adopting Canvas), and also knows a thing or two about Power Automate and Qualtrics.

Work aside, Janean is an avid music fan, film buff, and likes to dabble with Photoshop and music production software.

 

Rachel WillderRachel Willder

Learning Technologist

Rachel is the service area lead for online exams and works closely with eLearning colleagues to promote exam robustness and decrease academic malpractice.

Rachel welcomes questions and feedback about the equipment Humanities have installed and the various pedagogical approaches we have recommended to staff to make teaching a success.

Outside of work Rachel plays softball, is trying to get into gardening, and always has a book on the go.

 

Adelaide MarshallAdelaide Marshall

eLearning Support Officer

Adelaide joined eLearning full time in 2022 and is now a Support Officer for the School of Social Sciences. Along with other colleagues in the team, he has completed a Digital Learning Design Diploma (Distinction). Adelaide deputises for Accessibility, Learning Design, Assessment and Exams, and welcomes opportunities to discuss any of these options.

A recent graduate of the University, Adelaide enjoys working on projects engaging with student voice and bringing different perspectives together. He is also a co-organiser of the Digital Education Network, an inter-eLearning social conference.

 

Lauren StarrLauren Starr

eLearning Support Officer

Lauren joined the eLearning team in 2020 and serves as the Service Area Lead for Digital Accessibility & Inclusivity. She provides expert support across all supported tools, offering troubleshooting assistance and guidance on best practices.

Recently, Lauren coordinated a large human-centred project within the Faculty, applying principles of design thinking and service design. She welcomes discussions and inquiries on these topics.

Beyond work, Lauren is an avid crochet and knitting enthusiast and is currently studying person-centred counselling.
