WILNET is delighted to share an interview with Christine Chinkin and Hilary Charlesworth who visited Manchester for the Opening Discussion of the European Society of International Law Annual Conference 2018.

Professor Christine Chinkin is the founding director of the Centre for Women, Peace and Security at the London School of Economics and Professor Hilary Charlesworth is a Melbourne Laureate Professor at Melbourne Law School and also a Distinguished Professor and Director of the Centre for International Governance and Justice in the Regulatory Institutions Network at the Australian National University. In 2000, they published their ground-breaking book ‘The Boundaries of International Law: A Feminist Analysis’ which examined the status of women in international law. In 2005, in recognition of this and other contributions to scholarship, they were awarded the American Society of International Law, Goler T. Butcher Medal ‘for outstanding contributions to the development or effective realization of international human rights law’.
