Computer Vision for the Humanities – an Introduction to Deep Learning for Image Classification

Organised by N8 CIR (https://n8cir.org.uk/) this half day workshop will provide an introduction to deep learning based computer vision methods for humanities research; give an overview of the steps involved in training a deep learning model; and discuss some of the specific considerations around using deep learning/computer vision for humanities research.

Cyber Essentials Scheme Renewal

IT Services has renewed the University’s Cyber Essentials compliance for the next year.

Cyber Essentials is a United Kingdom government information assurance scheme that is operated by the National Cyber Security Centre. It encourages organisations to adopt good practice in information security. Cyber Essentials also includes an assurance framework and a simple set of security controls to protect information from threats coming from the internet.

N8 CIR Machine Learning and AI Workshop

Wellbeing for academic and research staff – webinar

Delivered by Mental Wellbeing Services (https://mentalwellbeingservices.co.uk/) this workshop will focus on the wellbeing of academic and research staff, raising awareness about factors that can impact negatively on mental wellbeing and exploring therapeutic tools to support positive mental wellbeing, creativity and motivation.  The workshop will take place on the 24th March.
